Here’s the truth: you have tons of options when it comes to choosing someone to photograph your wedding. You have different price points, different styles, different personalities, different levels of experience, and all the other stuff that makes every photographer different.

But I want to share a story with you. In October of 2020, I married the love of my life. Not only was I a COVID bride (I had a two year engagement to plan the PERFECT wedding only to have to cancel everything and plan it all over again in two months) but my Dad was also diagnosed with ALS (a terminal illness) so we could not postpone the wedding.

We had some incredible vendors who really pulled through for us and helped us make our wedding day possible. I got married during one of the toughest periods of my life and it taught me the importance of finding vendors who truly SERVE their customers with grace and kindness.

You see, photography has never been about clicking a button and collecting a paycheck, I understand that I have a responsibility to capture some truly special moments for my couples to treasure forever. I get excited about taking pretty photos and I feel so thrilled every time a couple tells me that they love their images. I love everything about what I do, but I also consider the impact that a photo can have, and the responsibility that comes with photographing weddings.

Your wedding might be one of the only times when all of your family and friends are together in the same place. I don’t say this to be morbid, but you never know when a photo might be the only tangible memory that you can hold on to of a grandparent, parent, brother, wife, etc.

I promise that I’m not trying to say “Get good photos in case your loved ones pass away.” But I am saying that after your wedding, flowers wilt, cakes get eaten, memories fade, but your photos are forever.

And when you invest your trust and your money in me, I invest everything I have into you, your experience, and your memories. It’s not just a click of a button - photographing your wedding is a big responsibility, and you deserve a photographer who has experience, who has professional equipment and backup gear, who knows how to pose people and how to work with harsh or difficult lighting, and who will be there with you and for you, 100% of the way.

you might be thinking why katherine?

I'm here to photograph the real stuff - the stuff that’ll make you laugh until your cheeks hurt and will make your heart beat faster. I want to photograph the things that make you who you are, and the things that make your love unique.

Hey friend, I’m Katherine - but my friends call me Katie!

The color palette of these places creatively fuels me-the soft warm green of sagebrush, the cotton candy skies during blue hour, the bright white of the snow when it sparkles in the sunlight, and the turquoise blue waters. The textures of these places inspire me from the texture of old wood on the buildings in Bodie State Park + Mormon Row to the jagged mountain peaks in Mammoth Lakes + Grand Teton. I am fond of bison, pronghorn, mule deer, moose, coyotes + sage grouse. I admire (yet have immense respect for) grizzly bears, black bears + mountain lions. The conservation of these wild places and the wildlife that inhabits them get me out of bed every morning. I enjoy sharing these places with people through photography whether it be through adventuring with couples as I document their love or photographing wildlife and landscapes.

I am infatuated with the ecosystems of the CA Eastern Sierra, Yellowstone and Grand Teton.

Not only is photography my full time gig, but it is also my hobby. If I'm not out third wheeling with couples to document their unique love story, then you can probably find me with my camera in hand photographing wildlife.

I've always been the girl with a camera in hand. As a little girl, I would set up my barbies as a bride + groom and take their photos with disposable cameras. I'd run around the backyard and photograph my dogs, flowers and ALLLL of my stuffed animals. When I was in high school, I was an ASB club member. During the last week of my senior year, I was presented with the opportunity to borrow a Canon camera from the Yearbook class to photograph a school pool party. It was one of my most memorable high school experiences and I realized how much I loved to be involved from behind the scenes. I was obsessed with freezing moments in time and turning them into memories to look back on forever. When I was in college, my love of my camera continued to develop. I bought my first Canon DSLR camera and used it to document my adventures with my husband while adventuring in the backcountry, wildlife, and landscapes. Once I became the friend with a camera, I started to get asked to take portraits for blogs, senior portraits, proposals and more. I enjoyed photographing special moments for other people so much that decided to take photography classes even though they had nothing to do with my major.

While I originally picked up a camera for the very first time in order to capture wildlife and landscapes, I quickly learned how special it is to document some of life's most precious moments in a persons life.  When my father was diagnosed with ALS in 2020, the importance of a photograph held an even deeper meaning for me.  I take great responsibility in photographing weddings, elopements, couples, wild places and the animals that inhabit them. Photography is my art form and my hope is to act like a storyteller through my work.

If you have made it here to my adventurous corner of the internet, welcome!

I am a photographer based out of Mammoth Lakes, CA located in the incredible Eastern Sierra Mountains.

Since my photography journey started by niching in wildlife and landscapes, I make it a point to capture the landscape just as beautifully as my subject. While I want the focus to be on my subject, I don’t want any details in the image getting lost. When my couples and I are exploring for adventure sessions or elopements, I also try to artistically incorporate any wildlife we come across into the images.
